Dear AMMRL,
I have an old Varian VXR and I'm still using 5 1/4 " floppies to xfer
data from it to a PC.
I'm having trouble reading a writing data to them on the VXR drive.
Certain floppy disks seem to work O.K.; others won't read and write.
I've tried cleaning the heads, mechanical parts and circuit boards
inside the drive.
Questions: Do floppies deteriorate over time? Could the electronics
in the drive be going bad?
I hope that I can find someone out there that has experience in this
area, and still remembers.
