Hi all,
since a long time I am fighting with a not directly NMR specific
problem. Nevertheless the problem could be of some
general interest. The problem is the Display export
of MSI/Accelrys software (Insight/Discover) to non
SGI X-terminals.
What's the problem. If you try to start Insight either from
a Linux machine or using eXceed as X-Server you get
this message
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display
I tried to figure out the reason for this and found a few
hints. If you type
glxinfo
either at the Linux or the SGI box you get some
informations concerning their capabilities to display 3D
Open GL objects. If you do a remote login either from
the SGI-machine or from eXceed to the Linux box this
info using glxinfo works too. But if you build up a connection
either from the Linux box or from eXceed to the SGI machine
the result of glxinfo is
Error: The GLX extension is not supported on display
There is clearly any communication problem arising from
the SGI box. Unfortunately all newsgroup search was without
of any success until now.
Maybe you have an idea ......
