Jeff de Ropp,
UC Davis

Postdoctoral Positions Open
Research Lab of Prof. Gerd N. La Mar
Department of Chemistry
University of California, Davis

Solution NMR structure determination of metalloproteins, including a
variety of heme enzymes and iron-sulfur cluster proteins; protein control
of redox potential of metal chromophores, reversible unfolding of globins,
NMR approaches to paramagnetic proteins; active site structure of large
heme enzymes. Studies range from complete structure determination of
relatively small proteins (7K ferredoxin, 11 kDa globins), to active site
characterization of very large proteins (~30 kDa heme oxygenase, 46 kDa
horseradish peroxidase mutants, 65 kDa human hemoglobin mutants).
Instruments available include new Bruker AVANCE 500 and 600 spectrometers
with 4 channels/PFG. The positions are open for the beginning of 2002, are
for one year and are renewable for an additional two years by mutual
consent. The stipend is commensurate with qualifications, and includes
generous health care benefits. Send CV and arrange for three letters of
