Michael
If you can not ping inovaauto or 10.0.0.4 then the it sounds like either the
MS/R board is not working or it is not connected to the network. I would
take a real close look at the back plane to be sure all power supply
voltages are present and correct then I would trace the Ethernet connection
to the MS/R board. You might even try eliminating the hub in the CPU card by
using an external hub.

The bottom line is that nothing is going to work until you are able to ping
a live 10.0.0.4.

Another possibility is that some other device in your network is trying to
use 10.0.0.4 or the name inovaauto. Make sure that your /etc/hosts file is
correct.

Let me know how you make out.

Greetings Everybody,

Forescore and three console boards later, we are currently having a problem
with communications and a MS/R board. We have swapped out the cpu board and
tried two MS/R boards. The latter still is indicating that there's a
problem since the red fail led is lit. We have even swapped out the NIC in
the ultra 5 and I made a crossover cable to eliminate that possibility.
Still getting a status: INACTIVE instead of the normal IDLE message. We are
unable to ping inovaauto, but inova and wormhole are both alive. We are in
the process of software reload, we're using vnmr ver C.

Has anyone experienced any of these symptoms? Right now were as dead in the
water as our electoral process....

Any information would be most welcome.

Thanks,
