NMR Facility Director/Manager
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Louisville is recruiting a
Manager for their Nuclear Magnetic Resonance facility. The position is a
full-time (12-month), staff appointment in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The successful candidate will oversee use and maintenance of the Department’s
Varian 400, 500, and 700 MHz NMR and Bruker EMXplus EPR instruments. The manager
will be responsible for organizing user access and billing, training and assisting
post-doctoral, graduate and undergraduate student users, participating in
collaborative research with faculty and working with local industry. There will
also be opportunities for teaching if desired. Prior experience with magnetic
resonance instruments that includes troubleshooting at the board level, Linux
administration and networking is expected. A Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry,
physics or a related field is required, and a year of postdoctoral experience in
NMR and/or EPR spectroscopy is highly desirable. There are excellent opportunities
for interactions and collaborations with scientists and professionals that
utilize high-field NMR and EPR across both campuses of the University of Louisville.
