Hi Stephen,
Not sure but I'd be interested in this also. We used to schedule fills at
the "normal level" for several years until we started having delivery problems
during one of the increasingly common helium shortages. One of these resulted
in a 3 week delay which caused us to get uncomfortably close to a potential
quench level. We decided after that to order at 50% and just fill more
frequently. I don't know if there is a great difference in efficiency but
I would welcome the wisdom of the crowd here.
All the best,
Rick

> Subject: [AMMRL] Varian 400MR Liquid Helium Fill Timing
Hello,
I've been following the notes of our previous technician to perform the liquid
helium fill when our probe reading is around 100. I also found the attached
helium probe calibration chart, and I'm wondering if I'm performing the helium
fill prematurely. Does the digital readout value on the probe refer to the
"Probe reading (mm)" column or the "He level in can (mm)" value? Should I be
waiting a little longer before the fill?
Thank you!
