We have been running VNMR 6.1B on five different Inova systems
(all circa 1996 w/ prom upgrades needed for 6.1B). The systems have
been very reliable. As we needed to upgrade our hard drives in the
spectrometer workstations, we installed Solaris 9 (w/ latest cluster
patch) and VNMR 6.1C (with 107 patch). The upgrade went smoothly
and BioPack calibrated without issue. However in our first 2D
run overnight of a gCLNfhsqc (which ran perfectly many times under
6.1B), we got an error that we have never seen before...
FID 108: Number of points acquired not equal to np.
...several hours into the run. I don't see this exact error mentioned
in recent VNMR News or bug reports. However, the 103 and 107 patches
for VNMR 6.1C mention a fix for BugID acquisition.6.128, which concerns
random acq. failures on both the powerpc and 68040 cpu boards.
Unfortunately that bug report says that it was only 'reduced' for
the 68040 board.
Has anyone seen this problem under VNMR 6.1C with current 107
patches and a 68040 cpu board? If so, are they any hardware/software
fixes or workarounds? We went through this type of problem in the
late 90's with FIFO-underflows but those were eventually eliminated
by either software or firmware fixes.
Thanks in advance for any information on this.
Sincerely,
Jack Howarth
