The Analytical & Engineering Science Division of Hercules Incorporated has an immediate opening for an NMR spectroscopist.  The spectroscopist must be well versed with all aspects of NMR theory and practice.  This individual will be a member of the R&D team at our Corporate Research Center in Wilmington, DE. 

 

The successful candidate should be able to apply advanced NMR spectroscopy techniques in support of the structural characterization of large and small molecules.  This position requires the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.  As a member of the Analytical & Engineering Science Division, the candidate will collaborate on a diverse set of challenging technical problems in support of all of Hercules’ business units.  We are seeking a team player with excellent communication skills.

Requirements:

The qualified candidate should posses an advanced degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or equivalent practical experience with specialization in NMR spectroscopy.  Doctoral and postdoctoral research experience should be in NMR spectroscopy.

Skills in data analysis and pattern recognition should be ideally balanced with advanced proficiency in NMR instrumentation, software, and pulse sequences.

Experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of NMR instrumentation is highly desirable.

Good breadth in general, organic, and polymer chemistry principles and practices is necessary.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Permanent residency status in the U.S. is required.
