Pat,

Yes and no (but mostly no). Unlike chromatographic peaks (GC), the line
widths of NMR peaks are not identical, hence, total area under the peak is
dependent upon the peak height and the line width, which is a function of
relaxation behavior of the nucleus under investigation). You may look into
Chapter 9 on Practical aspects of intensity measurement and quantitative
analysis in "Practical NMR Spectroscopy by Martin, Delpuech and Martin
(Heyden) 1980.

Pat:

Do you mean doing a peak peaking function instead of integration?
If so, some people did it for 13C-NMR (only - as far as I know).

Subject: Peak Height NMR Quantitation

Dear AMMRL:

Does anyone know of any articles that discuss using peak height of
proton NMR spectra for quantitation?

Thanks,
