Hello all,
We have a researcher (Jun Xu) who would like to measure NMR sample
temperature directly during an experiment. There is a related message in
the archives (Thermocouple/Thermistor for Temperature Measurements; DeRose,
Eugene; 14 Dec 1998), but there seem to be no posted replies. Has anyone
tried (either successfully or not) to directly measure sample temperature
'in vitro'? What method was used, and what successes or problems were
there? Any suggestions for temperature probes or instrumentation? I am
concerned about coil detuning and reflections due to a sensor in the sample
during pulsing. Also, I wonder whether the temperature probe might affect
the sample by thermal sinking or by RF heating.
You can reply directly to Jun Xu at xu8_at_purdue.edu or I can forward to her.
We will post a summary of responses after we sort them out.
Thank you, Jerry
