I will soon be leaving the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at
Texas A and M University to manage a new NMR lab in the School of Pharmacy
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. They have just begun
to look for my replacement, and the announcement for the position is listed
below.
BIOMOLECULAR NMR LABORATORY MANAGER
Texas A&M University
The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Texas A&M University has
an opening for the position of Biomolecular NMR Laboratory manager.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree with demonstrated experience in the
field. The Laboratory currently houses four-channel 500 and 600 MHz NMR
Varian Inova spectrometers, with plans to add another 600 and an 800 MHz
spectrometer to the Laboratory in the near future. The website for the NMR

Candidates should have experience in a variety of areas including, but not
limited to, computer management and data-base programming, and NMR
spectroscopic expertise in hardware considerations and implementation of 2D
and 3D homo- and heteronuclear experiments. Duties will include filling
the magnets and performing routine maintenance on the spectrometers,
updating software, as well as some training of new users. Time will also
be set aside for the successful candidate to conduct his/her own
independent or collaborative research.
Salary is commensurate with experience and the position is available
