Ken et al: Higher cost doesn't make it as a reason anymore: A Sun Ultra5
to universities is less that $3k.
I like windows for GC's etc. For complex instruments, I like to be
able to hack a little. I don't see learning to hack any Microsoft code.
Does anybody recall DRDOS? Digital Research's DOS was better than
MSDOS at any similar release prior to Ver.5. What happened to DRDOS?
Windows 3.1 buried it. That's ok, but think that Gate's statement that MS
does not stiffle competition is bullshit. If you need a PC you get MS
software period.
Who do I trust? Certainly not Mr. Gates & company. We use Linux on
a mail server and it seems fine. The source *is* available. With the
source code, you don't need to trust anybody.
I hope unix and windows both continue to coexits indefinetly. My 2
cents, thanks for your bandwidth, Lew
