Re: [AMMRL] Avance III "BirdRack flush" Error?

Hi Clemens,

Thanks, as always, for the helpful reply.

Our console supply voltage is a very steady 208 V (dual-online UPS, and measured
at the AQS). However, we then noticed that the AQS voltage selector switch was
set to the 220 – 240 V range.

After adjusting the selector, we saw an improvement in the HPPR voltage output—
for example, the 19 V rail increased from 18.1 V to 18.7 V. Thanks for pointing us in
the right direction! Hopefully that puts an end to the "BirdRack flush" errors.

Best regards,
Sameer

Hi Sameer

see part of the error message below. This might be the issue. Check the cables
between console and HPPR stack. Not the Rf just the power cable. Check if all
power supplies in the console are working properly. Make sure you main supply
is not running at an under-voltage. If the voltage drop into the 200V region
you might start to see issues.

It might just be borderline with the supply that is why it happens sporadically.

Regards

Clemens

Dear AMMRL,

We occasionally see a "BirdRack flush" error when experiments are queued in
TopSpin. When it occurs, TopSpin fails to start the next experiment, displays
the error message below, and won’t do anything else until we dismiss
the error:

Error during BirdRack flush:
Error in flush():
agrackserver exception:
Error in "flush": Hppr error in clearErrors: Cannot reset interleave counter on HPPR:
error in command ‘I' sent to HPPR/2 preamplifier module 0:
Error 90 in CMOD: HPPR/2 power supply is too low, check power supply and power cable to HPPR/2 !

For instance, this happened earlier today with an experiment scheduled to start
around 2 AM. After dismissing the error dialog, the experiment ‘failed’.
I could then start it manually with zg, and it ran without any issues.
Despite the error message, I didn’t have to do anything with the HPPR.

I’m not sure whether queuing is a necessary condition for the failure, but
our users report the error only seems to happen on queued experiments.

The system is an Avance III running TopSpin 3.6.3 on Windows 10. The experiments
were custom pulse sequences for MAS that we’ve run many times before.
We’re planning to upgrade to Windows 11 and the latest TopSpin version
in July.

If anyone has run into this before or has suggestions, I'd really appreciate
hearing from you.

Thanks,
Sameer
