A high concentration of carbon dioxide is a very great danger irrespective
of the level of oxygen, I would strongly recommend against using dry ice in
this manner.

Hi Karl,
If you have a large tote of dry ice you could try blowing a fan over it and
see if that makes a difference. Or you could vent a liquid nitrogen tank.
Just make sure you have an oxygen sensor in the room. Our lab used to be
very warm in the mornings so I would always open all the doors to air it out
in the morning. I agree with Clemens about the humidity. One time in my
former life I gave an invited talk at the university of Rome. They took
me to see their MRI machines and it was rainy and muggy and they had the
windows wide open. I don’t think they even had air conditioning.
It was an interesting experience.

What you have to be concerned with is humidity. There are parts of the spectrometer
such as the heat sinks on the nitrogen stacks that are colder.
Humidity will condense on these surfaces.
If you have a cryoprobe or prodigy that body of the probe is also a bit colder
and you might see the surface get wet.
