AMMRL: Using CentOS with VNMRJ 4.2

Colleagues:
   I'm considering updating my Mercury and Inova Sun Ultras to Linux
systems using VNMR J 4.2. Has anyone used VNMRJ with CentOS rather than
Redhat? Also, are the HP Z400 or Z420 workstations really necessary?
