[AMMRL] cooling a Sumitomo helium compressor with city water

To resonators,

Especially you with experience with closed-cycle helium systems. We have a
Sumitomo F70 compressor as part of our very nice 325 mm bore supercon from
Superconducting Systems Inc. We use city water "once and out" to cool the
compressor. Yes, we have had some troubles (heat exchanger leaks- twice now-
but not scaling). The people at Sumitomo see nothing wrong with the city's
report on water quality and impurities. We have a large 25 micron filter in
front of the water inlet on the F70.

Do any of you have experience with this kind of cooling? Thanks for your advice.
