Hi All,
We have an unshielded 400 MHz Spectrospin magnet that we're preparing to
decommission. Our initial plan was to induce a quench either by opening the
vacuum seal, or cease nitrogen fills and let boil off handle the rest. After
speaking with a magnet engineer we think our lab layout slightly too crowded
for that approach; this magnet's stray field could distort outwards during an
"uncontrolled" quench. We're now considering using the charging rods to
deenergize more gently. Trouble is, something's gone missing since the magnet
was installed in 1995. We have both rods, diode, and a battery for cycling down,
but we don't have anything (pin outs?) to connect rods to battery. Is anyone
willing to loan us a compatible set of connectors/adapters/power-source? If
you're in the New England area we could come in person and save you the
trouble of mail.
