Dear Colleagues,
Our group has an opening for an NMR spectroscopist. I seek your
assistance in identifying a strong candidate with an interest in
developing and applying state-of-the-art biological NMR methods
to support drug discovery efforts at BMS.

The Macromolecular NMR group at Bristol-Myers Squibb has been an
industry leader since its formation in 1989. Research in the
group covers a broad spectrum of topics, from the
three-dimensional structure determination of protein-ligand
complexes to hit identification and characterization to protein
dynamics. We recently installed our 4th 600 MHz spectrometer (3
Varians, 1 Bruker) and expect delivery of cryoprobes for the
Bruker system and for 1 of the Varian systems by the end of the
month. In addition, plans are in the works for purchasing a 700
MHz spectrometer. Currently the group is comprised of 4 Ph.D. NMR
spectroscopists and a protein biochemist. As you can see, the
group is well-equipped and expanding.

We are seeking a motivated, creative researcher with a strong
interest in applying NMR to drug discovery projects.
Responsibilities will include working with multi-disciplinary
teams in various therapeutic areas, developing and implementing
state-of-the-art high resolution biological NMR experiments, and
NMR platform support. The successful candidate will have an
in-depth understanding of NMR theory, and will be an expert in
modern protein NMR technologies, particularly in NMR
instrumentation and pulse sequence development. A Ph.D. in
Biophysical Chemistry or a related field and 1-4 years of
postdoctoral experience in biological NMR are required, as are a
proven record of accomplishments, excellent communication skills,
and the ability to work effectively in teams.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would forward this note to
any potential candidates, who should then send their CV and
research interests to me, preferably by e-mail. Thanks in
advance.

Best regards,

Bill Metzler
