Dear all,
I found I was making two mistakes. Firstly, we had very recently changed over
to TS3.7 and I was inputting tunes (e.g., tuneax) that were not operational
in TS3.7, but no error message was triggered so good to check that the tunes
you want actually do run by manual selection from the command line. Secondly,
the changes in icon configuration may not take effect unless icon is rebooted
(I forgot this). Additionally, global shim selection does not override the
shim selection for a particular solvent if one was made. So, a number of
choices which should all work, either globally or for a selected solvent(s):
Clemen’s suggestion, e.g. "TOPSHIM_WITH_AUTOSHIM convomp tuneay tuneax",
Mike’s suggestion, write an au program and run it in the shim tab, e.g.
“XAU filename”,
or my suggestion,
write a macro, 2 lines:
line 1, e.g. “topshim convcomp tuneay tuneax” or whatever you want, and
line 2, “tune filename” where the tune file will have a single line “
AUTOSHIM z1=1 z2=2” for example.
and then run it similarly in the shim tab, e.g. “XMAC filename”,

Hello - in case its helpful and particularly for those that enjoy AU programming
(like I do), you might consider writing an AU program to look after all of your
shimming needs and specify your AU program as the global ICONNMR shim routine
("XAU <program_name>"). Any unique shimming needs as a function of solvent can
be handled internally within the code. I found this to be the path of least
resistance when setting up noD capabilities, for example.
Also, within an AU program, the commands AUTOSHIM_ON and AUTOSHIM_OFF are available.
Specify the desired shims first within the BSMS panel. I turn this on when
experiment time exceeds a defined threshold AND lock gain is sufficiently low.
