have been using copper tubing (the flexible refrigerator type) with the
black foam insulation over it and then a short piece of rubber tubing,
about 18 inches, at the magnet end. The copper portion mounts to the LN2
tank with a flare nut. I have done this for many years. If the tubing
shatters you are at the least 5 feet away from the break. Of course I do
wear safety glasses and gloves too.
I have not worked it out but I suspect that the copper tubing has a lower
heat capacity than the rubber tubing since the transfers seem to be a bit
quicker. The only issue is that you need to place the tank fairly well and
I work to insure that as the rubber tubing starts to freeze that the bend
is a smooth radius.
I have had a few breaks in the rubber tubing but I have always been a safe
distance away from the breaks.
