Dear Glenn,

We use tacky mats near the entrance of our 600 MHz instrument. All other
NMR rooms have carpet and users walk quite a distance to reach the
spectrometer.

The easiest thing to do is to cover the foot of users approaching the
spectrometer. I have seen the Time-Warner cable service personnel taking
out a shoe cover from their pocket and wear them each time they entered
our house. These shoe covers are similar to those used in the hospital
operating room and he wore that 5 - 6 times on wooden floor without tearing
them.
