Joe,
If your console host computer is a unix workstation and each user has an
individual login account, you can extract the needed information from the
"last" log (derived from /etc/wtmp). I have developed a "perl" script for
this on the SPARCstation/solaris console of our Varian Inova-300. This
should work equally well (with minor adaptations) for the SGI hosts on
Bruker systems. This simple method has the advantages that there is no
accounting software overhead and it records the full length of time that
the console is monopolized by a particular user. If users are allowed to
operate the spectrometer via remote network logins, a more elaborate
accounting method would be required.
I would be happy to send a copy of the 'perl' script to anyone interested.
