Igor - if it were me, I'd look at trying what Mike is suggesting and forget
about topshim while your gradient probe is out for repair.  Do some
serious manual shimming with your temporary probe to get an up-to-date shimfile
to use as your starting point.  And then simplex shimming on the lock
level from there.  If this is in ICONNMR, there are some tools in the
Configuration suite (Lock/Shim Options) that can help with throughput.
For example, you can set it up to shim on every new sample or alternatively
only after a solvent change or after every N samples.  You may have to
experiment with it.  Also be aware that you can cap the amount of time
spent allocated to the tune shim command in this same interface.

Many (many many) years ago there was a wonderful overview of the nuts and bolts
of shimming on Bruker instruments in a couple of versions of the Bruker Spin
Reports.  Simplex shimming and tune files were covered.  You'd likely
benefit from having a look at these if you can access.  if not, I'd be
happy to send to you.  I have hung on to these and still refer back from
time to time.

Good Luck!

Mike
