I would like to seek advice on the following issue.
I upgraded my 400 Bruker AV system to AVIII. I bought the AVIII system at
an auction. The field was 400.16 at the previous lab. My magnet is at
400.13, I only used the console, the probe and the computer, but kept my
old magnet. Some of the system settings on the computer could be specific
to the old field of 400.16.
When I do ATMM or ATMA using the probe, the console and the computer that I
just bought, it works for 1H, and for any exotic nuclei that the previous
lab had not used, such as 11B, 29Si, 119Sn, 7Li, even 79Br, which is only
0.6MHz different from 13C. But it would fail if I try to do ATMM of 13C or
31P or 19F, which I think the previous lab has used. The error message is
quoted below.
Probe is BBFO, "PA-BBO-400S1-BBF-H-D-05-Z-PLUS"
On entering "atmm" or "atma", topspin throws the error:
*"atma_probeCorba_impl::start exception: Error: channel can't be wobbled
with this probe [Probe: [Nucleus] can't be selected on the [BB] channel
[NucBB-MotorBase:movePreset-Motor-Nr:3 <BB Match>: can't move to position
(varies) (current: (4))]]"*
*and then shuts down atm without allowing any control or changing any
tuning. "wobb" displays normal tuning curve, but can not be adjusted due to
lack of manual tuning rods or the access to the ATMM window.Both PC and
Console have been rebooted, no change.Backing up, deleting, and recreating
files in "conf/instr/probeheads" caused no change.*
We could not create a new probe in Edhead, PICS prevented changing to it.
The puzzling thing is if I take the probe outside the magnet, ATMM worked
for 13C. It was this observation that prompted Bruker to suggest that I
change the ATM module. But why would ATMM work inside the magnet for 79Br,
which is so similar to 13C in frequency?
