POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
The College of Staten Island has established a supercomputing facility
which is available for computational chemistry. The Research Associate
will manage campus-wide facilities for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)
including operation and maintenance of research instruments, scheduling
of NMR time, user training, and preparation of annual written reports of
facilities use and research activity. The Research Associate will work
closely with the faculty director of the NMR facility as well as
collaborate with and/or assist faculty members to support and facilitate
cutting-edge research projects in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, with an
emphasis on biomolecular NMR. The Research Associate will also assist
research teams in the implementation and analysis of experiments done at
the College and at the New York Structural Biology Center. The Center
has multinuclear capabilities for conducting state-of-the art
macromolecular research utilizing 300 MHz and 600 MHz NMR spectrometers
and parallel computing clusters.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in (Bio)Chemistry, Physics or related discipline plus a minimum of
two (2) years of postdoctoral work experience with demonstrated research
abilities required. The successful candidate should have experience in
solution-state biomolecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)
applications, and knowledge in one of the following areas: polymer NMR,
solid-state NMR, NMR instrumentation, or NMR facility management. The
ideal candidate will have a track record of collaborative research in
biochemistry/biophysics, preferably with some membrane protein
experience. The Search Committee is especially interested in qualified
candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or
service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
