Thank you for your email. I appreciate it.
I was not able to check my lock at that time because I had taken the probe
out and did not get it back in exactly the same way. So, my linewidth was
horrible and I was not able to lock it.
I did take the probe, shimstack and upper shimstack (BST) out again, recleaned
and reassembled. When I reassembled, I made sure that the collars where a
little loose to make sure that the shimstack and BST had the best coupling
(as suggested by Michael Groves). So, my problem was that the BST and shimstack
were not connected well enough after I took everything apart the first time
and maybe I did not clean everything thoroughly enough the first time resulting
with the sample not going all the way in to the probe. I wonder if something
similar could be happening with your system.
Good luck.

Hi, Jay:
Have you checked the locking level or spectrum to ensure your sample is not
spinning ?
Our 500MHz also has a non-spinning issue. We can see the sample is not missing,
but can not see it's spinning or not after "ro on", the sample indicator will
show a white-out pending status. However, I am pretty sure the sample is spinning,
because the locking level goes up a little bit and the sensitivity of the spectrum
increases slightly. Similar to you, cleaning of the probe or BST can not help.
We are considering replacement of BST, because the spinning sensor, located inside
the bottom of the BST might be bad.
Because your sensor also can not detect the sample, I would also suspect the
problem might be the sample sensor.
Good luck !

I need some ideas and this group has always been the best place to look.
We have an Bruker Advance 600 that stopped spinning solution samples. It was
spinning at 20 Hz and then lower like 10 Hz and now it is not spinning at all.
I think that it went from 20 Hz to 0 Hz in a few days. The pressure to the
console is fine. I assume that something was dirty or that there was a blockage,
so I took the shim stack, probe, and shims out and tried to clean them. When I
had it apart I did not notice anything unusual. I put everything back together
and it still would not spin. I also noticed that on the BSMSdisp it indicated
that the sample was missing, even though the sample was in the magnet.
We also have a decommissioned Advance 400. So, I tried swapping PNK pneumatics
controller boards between the 400 (ECL 00) and 600 (ECL 01), but that did not help.
I also ran the diagnostics on the BSMS unit using “topspin -e bsms” and
all of the boards passed.
I would appreciate any ideas or insights.
Jay
