AMMRL: experience of sectioning magnets

Hi all,

I have a student who is interested in organizing sectioning an old
magnet for display. So I am interested in any "dos and don'ts" from
people who have done this already.

The magnet is an Oxford 300/89 'Family' magnet from 1989. Any advice of
types of cutters for the different layers? Has anyone designed and built
a stable moveable base for one of these?

One idea I have had is to insert the transit fixtures to help hold
things in place while being cut.

Thanks for any thoughts, and happy holidays to all,

Phil.
