Hi,

Many NMR labs use these and they usually create no issues, but you should try your best to not have its airflow point at the magnet which can induce shim changes by cooling it on one side in an on/off fashion as these units usually are regulated by the length of their on- vs. off-state.
You also should not point its airstream towards the console as the gain of e.g. amplifiers may change a little bit (found everywhere throughout an NMR console - synthesizer, transmitter, RF amp, preamps…). This can mess up precise quantitative experiments.
Finally there is nothing more annoying for a n NMR user if there’s cold air blowing into your neck, so also don’t let it blow at the operator desk…
May be a bit tricky to find the best spot in the end!

Cheers
Bert

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the process of talking to vendors regarding potentially installing a dedicated dehumidifier system and/or mini-split into the NMR facility. I was wondering what folks in particularly humid settings use for environmental stability? My biggest concern is whether these methods will introduce undesirable vibrational noise to spectra or have other non-ideal consequences.

Thoughts? And thank you so much in advance!

Cheers,
Jessica
