Hi all,
A mass spec colleague would routinely cook his transfer line on a hot plate
when pumping down to achieve better vacuum. The lines were differently shaped
than ours, one end was connected orthogonally against the plate which kept
the jacket portion well away from the heat source. Adapting the same principle
to our transfer lines would mean building a custom jig to keep everything
secure. Also care to avoid compromising welds and o-rings. In my experience,
the more vanilla pump down procedure gives excellent results already even
without needing to apply additional heat.
I was unaware the jacket contained plastic spacer components. Good to know!
Kind regards,
Luke
