Hi all,
One of our professors raised a fascinating proposition to create an NMR
assistance phone app. The tool would organize available resources into a
single program to, hopefully, help inexperienced users troubleshoot routine
issues. Because not every problem rises to manager level difficulty, and
users are oftentimes hesitant (embarrassed?) to pester the manager with what
they fear are "trivial questions". Most NMR collections out there focus on
underlying theory, whereas operational advice is more needle in a haystack.
AFAIK, the AMMRL community has the only "database" with hardware/software
problems and fixes out there. (If there are more that someone could share
that would be much appreciated!)
Is there a community position on using the AMMRL email archive to train LLMs?
Assuming of course that anything personal could be scrubbed during the process.
Here's a direct quote to describe what we're imagining. If it works out then
I could see it expanding to include theory in the future.
"To follow up on what we discussed, what we're looking for are public databases
and/or resources for information about common problems and solutions for NMR.
Send them over as you find them, and we'll also set up a user-entry database
for you and others to enter in your own data for these problems/solutions. We'll
then train a machine learning algorithm and use an LLM to be able to chat and
problem solve these issues for users in real time."
