Hello All
The following system is for sale:
Varian 400 Inova console (circa 1998) with two channels (high band 1H/19F; low band 15N-31P), VT unit, Z-PFG.
Oxford 9.4 T (400 MHz) WIDE-BORE magnet with adapters for standard bore probes.
All the associated bits & pieces (shim stack, upper barrel, magnet leg, etc).
3mm ID probe 1H/15N-31P with Z-PFG
5mm 4-nuc probe 1H/19F/15N/31P with Z-PFG
Sun Ultra 1 workstation with VNMR 6.1C
Please note:
1. The system is not mine and is located in a different city from me but I think the description given above is correct.
2. The magnet quenched earlier this year due to neglect (a complicated and sordid story involving an unfortunate magnet trapped by internal politics) but I'm told that "modern" magnets should be able to survive a quench. Perhaps if someone from Oxford (or any magnet manufacturer) is reading this, he/she would care to comment (preferably on the state of the magnet, not internal politics).
3. The system was operational until the quench.
4. Management has decided that the system should be sold rather than given away.
5. My order of priority is "complete" then "magnet, console, probes separately".
6. There is no packing material/box for the console or the magnet; there may be probe cases.
7. The buyer is responsible for all costs (packing, transport, insurance, etc) and organization of packing, transport, insurance, etc. Probably the best way to facilitate this may be through the highly competent assistance of the local Varian agent (who will expect to be paid for his services - again, by the buyer).
8. Access to the now-defunct laboratory can be provided by appointment only.
9. The system is offered on a strictly "as is" basis - no warranty given or implied. Ditto for the components if the system is split up.
10. For those of you who may be considering shipping distances, the system is located in Durban, South Africa.
11. If anyone is interested, I will discuss the matter of pricing with the local Varian agent but feel free to make an offer if you have a number in mind. If you aren't interested but you have an idea of the value of a second-hand 400, please feel free to send me a note of that.
Regards,
Craig.
