The Biomolecular Analysis and Imaging Department is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with experience in chemometrics and spectroscopy. Our department, part of Sandia's Biological and Energy Sciences Center, conducts fundamental research in analytical chemistry, microbiology, proteomics, and immunology. Work in the department includes state-of-the-art imaging of whole cells and proteins, spectroscopic techniques to characterize cellular and molecular modifications, and computational efforts to understand the role of molecular conformations in cellular behavior. The successful candidate will be working with staff scientists to develop chemometric models for NMR, IR, MS and other spectroscopic data, along with the development of new analysis tools. Current projects include NMR metabonomics, zeolite adsorption, analysis and modeling of biologic materials.
Qualified candidates will possess a Ph.D. in chemistry or related field. The successful candidate must have experience in standard multivariate analysis tools (PLS, PCR, Discriminant Analysis), as well as novel chemometric methods. Knowledge of MATLAB is desired. Experimental experience with IR, NMR spectroscopies is also desired. Good communication skills (oral and written) are essential.
Qualified candidates must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance for this position. In order to obtain a security clearance, U.S. citizenship is required.
The annual salary for this position is $72,100.
