Are there any problems if you insert/eject the sample manually--in the sample
handling section of the BSMS service webpage I believe you go to the sample
transporter control page and there you can use the pulldown menu to select
"standard BSMS lift" to disable the samplecase.
Once you've got that set you should be able to use the normal ej and ij commands
to insert and eject the sample, and you can watch the sample position indicator
in topspin to see if it correctly displays the sample status and if you get any errors.
After you're done messing with that you can set the lift back to the other setting to
use the sample changer again. What version ELCB and sample changer firmware are installed?
If you go to the setup section of the BSMS Service webpage you can find the firmware versions.
If they're too old it might be worth updating them to see if that takes care of the issue.
And if you just watch the sample go in and out do you see anything strange?
Is the sample hanging up at the interface between the shim system and the sample
transporter?

I would like to ask about our problem with SampleCase (24 positions, installed 2015)
on our Bruker Avance III 600MHz (installed 2009) running Topspin 3.6.4 on linux.
In the past, we experienced this error occasionally, it was highly intermittent
with long periods of no problems. Today, we have it back.
When ejecting samples (ej or pressing the button), the sample comes out from
the magnet and is catched on the top. Immediately after, the samplecase issues
the error "BSMS Error: SampleTransporter: Carrier on top of magnet bore detected
(BST). Please remove it manually." and all lights turn red. Removing the sample
can be done in several ways, turn off the sample changer, press emergency stop
button twice, or even just reset samplechanger using the BSMS Service Web tool.
During reset, samplecase detects the sample catched on the top of the magnet and
safely delivers it back to the sample changer, no need to touch anything manually,
all is just a single mouse-click on reset in the webtool.
I have not figured out how to prevent this error. All sensors are clean.
Power cycles done. Firmware reloaded. Spinners new and clean. No mechanical
obstacles.
