Hello Spinlanders,
Have been trying to obtain proton decoupled 50 MHz carbon-13 NMR spectral
data for samples of DOW Chemical Tergitol NP-9, 5% and 20% V/V in CDCl3.
200 MHz proton NMR data is in good agreement with structure of
CH3-(CH2)8-C6H4-(OCH2CH2)9-OH. Proton decoupled carbon-13 NMR data for EO
portion of molecule is OK. Proton decoupled carbon-13 NMR data for phenyl
and aliphatic portions of molecule appear as fully coupled signals.
Is there some simple explanation for above observations? Is there a special
method required in order to obtain proton decoupled carbon-13 NMR spectral
data for this type of analytical sample?
If explanation and solution are offered, will post summary.
Thank you and kind regards,
Lawrence
