I think you are right about 'resonance'! This year I was asked (as
part of my job) to take over more responsibility for networking our lab.
computers (10) and printers (3). I used to do most of this myself (with
help), but over the years our IT got more involved, dictating printer
protocols and routers (none!) etc. We started using part time sys. adm.
help so I have not done much in the last five years or so. So as we have
added a lot more computers *and adding networking* to my job description
my job has suddenly become a lot harder.
In training students it is a constant problem to balance needs with
skills. The Faculty here has put pressure on me to let any and all use
our most sophisticated instruments.
