The GE Global Research Center is looking for a graduate student to spend
three months during the summer of 2003 at our research facility in
Niskayuna, NY. Two research projects are envisioned during this time. The
first one will study the impact of signal to noise in quantifying the
repeatability of in vivo magnetic resonance spectra, and the second one will
perform theoretical calculations to analyze the impact of line width and
field strength on the detectability of brain metabolites, and in particular
glutamate.

Our facility is located close to Albany, NY, and employs ~1500 scientists,
out of which ~600 hold PhD's. The timing of the internship is very flexible,
ie it can start anytime between May and July- and it will last 3 months. The
pay is considerable, and commensurate with experience.

Desired skills: fundamentals of NMR/MRS, C programming language, Monte Carlo
simulations, experience in using GAMMA (simulation software libraries),
statistical analysis of data, possibly experience with using GE scanners and
SAGE (GE spectral analysis program).

If interested, please send a brief description of your relevant experience,
along with your CV, to Ileana Hancu at hancu_at_research.ge.com

Application deadline: April 18-th.
