AMMRLers,

I am leaving MIT for a job at UNH. One of my last official acts at MIT
will be, I hope, to train my replacement (or at least show him or her the
ropes). Here is the ad copy that is expected to appear in C&E news and
boston.com.

If anybody is sort of interested but isn't sure whether or not to apply,
they can contact me for frank and candid discussions.

Please post this if you feel there might be some people around who might be
interested in this job.

Instrumentation Facility Director for the Department of Chemistry
Instrumentation Facility at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The
Director is responsible for overseeing the operation of the DCIF. A strong
background in NMR spectroscopy is highly desirable, with experience using
Bruker and Varian instruments. Duties include training users in the
practice of modern NMR spectroscopy, supervising DCIF staff, helping to
acquire new scientific instrumentation, managing the finances of the DCIF,
helping set DCIF policy, and working with researchers on a large number of
diverse research efforts. The DCIF houses six NMR spectrometers (a 600, two
500, a 400, and two 300 MHz instruments), an EPR spectrometer, a FT-ICR-MS,
a GC-MS, a Moessbauer spectrometer, a FT-IR spectrophotometer, a
polarimeter, and numerous workstations. Excellent language and
communication skills as well as managerial skills are essential. The
position is full-time with benefits. Salary will be commensurate with
experience. Applicants should send a cover letter, a resume, and the names,
e-mail address, phone numbers, and addresses of three persons that can
provide letters of recommendation to: MIT DCIF Director Search Committee,
18-TFO, 77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139. MIT is an affirmative
action/equal opportunity employer.
